Valentine’s Day, YANC Style

Young Audiences Northern California is an organization I’m proud to be a volunteer for and board member of. YANC provides arts education to over 20,000 students in the Bay Area, by way of teaching artist residencies, assemblies, and workshops--encompassing music, art, painting and story telling (just to name a few). This past weekend, in anticipation of Valentine’s Day, YANC hosted an art card making party at my studio in Dogpatch. Open to children of all backgrounds, this was an amazing time of creative inspiration, peer collaboration and pure joy for those who attended. Working with new materials and processes (you can see the block printing below), the students created 100% original artwork, which they can feel confident about sharing with others. To boot, they saved their parents some money on having to buy cards at the store!

Perhaps for your Valentine’s celebration, extend your creativity to a child in need of artistic inspiration!
