Painter Gary Komarin, who is repped locally by Elins Eagles-Smith Gallery (
), has a show at one of my favorite housewares store, March (
).
Originally from NYC, and now based in Connecticut, he doesn't have a concentration on food per se, but this body of work is from his "Cake Painting" series. All are produced on paper bags tiled together as a canvas.
There are 16 paintings in all, beautifully framed (with the exception of one), and hung around the store. It is, in a way, just like that of museum setting, with all the gorgeous tableware, artisan food products, jewelry and speciality pieces for your wardrobe.
Check it out. The show is up now and runs through October. Next month, March will be showing quilts.
